I stopped to take this picture (and catch my breath) after a ride up the steep hills of a trail in Malibu, CA. The beautiful thing about this picture for me was not only the incredible view, but the fact that I even made it up there. We were on a family camping trip and my husband wanted to go for a bike ride and explore. I would have normally opted out of this type of adventure. Years of chronic pain, recurring knee issues and general laziness had prevented me from enjoying bike rides and exploring the outdoors. But that all changed when we bought e-bikes. The pedal assist and on-demand throttle gave me the boost I needed to make it past parts of that hill climb I wouldn't have been able to do on my own strength. I may have been out of breath at the top of that hill, but I made it there. This was one of the first moments I realized this bike was changing my life.
Around the same time, I was laid off for the second time in a row and found myself questioning my desire to stay in that industry. Plus, the thought of leaving my financial fate in the hands of another software company gave me pure anxiety. I was struggling mentally and went to some dark places in my mind. Self-care became a priority. Getting on my bike and riding(while listening to some Taylor Swift) was one of the ways I could escape my intrusive thoughts. Riding gave me joy. It was impossible not to smile while riding. I knew I had to share my experience with others. With some urging by family and friends, we took a leap of faith and decided to turn our passion into a business. Our mission is to make a positive impact on our community and to change lives. Our motto is "Get Outside & Ride" and we encourage you to do just that!
